On Wednesday, King Mohammed VI inaugurated the construction of a regional center in Sidi Hjjaj Ouad Hassar designed for the reception and psychological and social rehabilitation of individuals with mental health disorders.
The project, developed by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, represents a total investment of 300 million dirhams. This initiative aims to enhance the health sector, particularly mental health, by assisting patients during their recovery through cognitive therapy, specialized psychological treatments, and professional activities.
The facility will cater to individuals with psychological disorders by providing psychological and social rehabilitation services and appropriate training aimed at enabling them to acquire specific skills for social and professional reintegration.
This initiative is part of a broader action plan overseen by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, which seeks to support the national health sector by strengthening existing health services and improving access to care for vulnerable populations, incorporating a complementary social approach to support mechanisms for patients and beneficiaries.
The project also aims to bolster the efforts of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in aiding individuals facing material or psychological hardship, especially those with mental health challenges.
The foundation employs community support mechanisms tailored to mental health patients, considering various intervention strategies to reduce social isolation, improve living conditions, and promote autonomy through reception, support, and educational and social guidance.
The regional center for the reception and psychological and social rehabilitation of individuals with mental health disorders will cover an area of 8 hectares, featuring a 396-bed accommodation center, including 84 beds for women, as well as a wing dedicated to therapeutic workshops and training with facilities for group discussions, psychological consultations, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and creative workshops in art, music, and theater, along with a library.
Additionally, the center will include a health hub with facilities for psychological and therapeutic education, general consultation, psychiatry, psychology, dental care, and observation, along with a logistics wing (kitchen, dining room, laundry), a pedagogical farm, sports fields, and administrative offices.
This project, to be completed within 24 months, is a collaborative effort between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, the Casablanca Labor Council, the Mediouna Prefectural Council, the Casablanca city council, and the National Initiative for Human Development in the Casablanca region.
