After the decision to demolish buildings for the expansion of the road near the Grand Stadium of Tangier, an agreement was reached to compensate several apartment owners with housing in the economic housing project in Ibn Battuta city.
This agreement was established between the Tangier Municipal Council, the local development company “Tangier Mobility,” and Al Omran Company, aimed at compensating residents affected by the expropriation of properties near the Al-Karam housing complex to facilitate the road expansion leading to the Grand Stadium “Ibn Battuta.”
The agreement, finalized based on the minutes of the Administrative Assessment Committee held on September 1, 2025, includes compensation for the owners and residents of two residential buildings, measuring 50.17 square meters (R+1) and 113.78 square meters (R+2). This initiative is part of a partnership agreement between the Tangier Municipality and “Tangier Mobility” to finance the acquisition of properties necessary for urban rehabilitation projects.
Compensation Details:
First Building (50.17 m²): Two residential units in the Ibn Khaldoun project within Ibn Battuta urban area were allocated, valued at a total of 418,000 dirhams (one unit at 250,000 dirhams and the other at 168,000 dirhams), along with a cash amount of 307,000 dirhams for owner “S” as compensation.
Second Building (113.78 m²): Four residential units were allocated at a total value of 672,000 dirhams (168,000 dirhams per unit), with a cash payment of 1,376,040 dirhams divided between the owners Mr. “A” and Ms. “F”.
Obligations of the Parties
Al Omran Company is committed to delivering the keys to the apartments immediately upon signing the minutes, while the Tangier Municipality is responsible for disbursing the owed financial amounts. The beneficiaries confirmed their acceptance of the compensation values set at 14,500 dirhams/m² for the first building and 18,000 dirhams/m² for the second building.
Role of the Administrative Committee
The Administrative Assessment Committee was chaired by the Secretary General of the Tangier-Asilah Province, with representatives from the Tangier Prefecture, the Urban Agency, the Regional Tax Directorate, the Provincial Treasury, and the Directorate of State Property present. After extensive discussions, prices were determined based on the prevailing rates in the area, with an indication that commercial assets will be discussed separately.
