According to local authorities in the Chichaoua region, five individuals, four of whom were from the same family, died from asphyxiation on Wednesday while working to clear a pit designated for sewage in the Douar Nwaser of the Sidi Bouzid municipality.
Upon being notified of the incident, local and security authorities, as well as civil protection services, immediately arrived at the scene to retrieve the victims’ bodies, which were subsequently transported to the regional hospital in Chichaoua.
An investigation has been initiated by the Royal Gendarmerie, under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, to uncover all circumstances and details surrounding this tragedy.
