Marrakech Authorities Refute Claims by British Tourist Leaving Morocco

The Marrakech Security Directorate has refuted claims attributed to national security personnel at Marrakech Menara Airport, which were conveyed by a British national who arrived at border control without the required travel documents for entry into the country.

In an official statement, the Marrakech Security Directorate confirmed that an investigation was launched regarding the allegations against border police at the airport. Surveillance footage from both arrival and boarding areas was reviewed, and it was established that the published information is inaccurate and requires clarification.

The security directorate stated that the mentioned foreign traveler arrived at Marrakech Menara Airport at 11:00 AM on July 31 without a passport permitting her entry, as per legal provisions concerning the entry and stay of foreigners in Morocco.

Furthermore, coordination with the airport’s ground handling service did not yield the mentioned travel document on the aircraft, after the individual reported that it was lost or left behind in the arriving plane. Consequently, she was barred from entering the country due to the absence of necessary documents. Arrangements were made for her to depart on the next flight to her home country the same day.

To further clarify, the review of surveillance footage did not reveal any recordings supporting the traveler’s claims.

Emphasizing their commitment to transparency, the Marrakech Security Directorate stated that the entry and stay of foreigners in Morocco are subject to legal procedures that must be adhered to as stipulated by law.
