Algerian Arrested in Tangier on Charges of Kidnapping, Detention, and Death Threats

On Tuesday, October 7, national security forces apprehended a 32-year-old French national of Algerian descent at Ibn Batouta Airport in Tangier.

A check of the individual against the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database revealed that he is wanted internationally at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris, suspected of involvement in a case related to kidnapping, detention, and death threats.

According to initial investigation data, the suspect is believed to have kidnapped a Belgian citizen in Brussels in 2024 before detaining him in France. This occurred within the context of settling scores between international drug trafficking networks.

The individual has been subjected to extradition procedures in compliance with the directives of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The National Central Bureau of Interpol Rabat, under the Directorate General of National Security, has been tasked with notifying its French counterpart about the arrest pending extradition procedures.
