Agreement to Enhance PEPSI Storage and Distribution in Morocco
To enhance storage and distribution capabilities for PEPSI in Morocco, Buildings & Logistics Services (BLS), a logistics and storage company, has announced a strategic partnership with Varun Beverages Morocco (VBL), the official bottler and distributor of PEPSI and Lays brands.
The agreement, signed on September 12, includes the establishment of a modern logistics platform covering an area of 31,000 square meters in the Khiyate area, south of Casablanca. This facility is expected to serve as a crucial support for the company’s supply chain.
VBL’s General Manager, Salah Eddin Mouadib, stated, “We chose to delegate our logistics operations to a leading national company like BLS so we can focus on developing and expanding our brand presence. Brands such as PEPSI, Lays, and others still have significant growth potential in the Moroccan market. We need an expert partner in storage and transportation to achieve this.”
On his part, BLS General Manager, Mounsef Belkhayat, described the project as a landmark achievement nationally in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
Calls to Boycott PEPSI in Morocco
The agreement between BLS and VBL coincides with heightened tensions regarding the Palestinian issue and the ongoing conflict in Gaza. In Morocco, calls from activist organizations and civil figures for a boycott of PEPSI and other brands are gaining traction, based on allegations that part of the company’s activities supports or collaborates economically with the Israeli occupation.
One of the principal advocates for the boycott is the “Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions” (BDS) movement, which has issued multiple statements affirming that the boycott has become an “effective weapon against the occupation.”
The movement has urged consumers to refrain from purchasing products from companies alleged to support Israel, including PEPSI products.
However, those advocating for the boycott have not provided conclusive evidence to substantiate their claims, while the companies involved deny any support for Israel’s actions in Gaza.
