The preacher Yassine Al-Omari stated that ceasing protests in solidarity with Gaza is among the “seven deadly sins.” This remark came during a protest organized by the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Advocacy, affiliated with the Justice and Development Party, on Saturday, September 20.
Al-Omari, who participated in the protest, delivered a “framing” speech in which he warned against fatigue and the return to a consumptive lifestyle. He emphasized that the people of Gaza continue to suffer under unchanged conditions, as the machinery of destruction does not tire.
In his speech, he likened the cessation of protests and solidarity initiatives with Gaza to “turning one’s back on the day of confrontation,” asserting that it constitutes a serious sin.
Islamic law forbids “turning one’s back on the day of confrontation,” a term mentioned in the Quran and Hadith. It promises severe punishment and Hellfire for those who commit this act, unless fleeing is for the purpose of regrouping for battle or joining another group.
